About AICTE IDEA LAB

The AICTE IDEA LAB (Idea, Development, Evaluation and Application) Lab is a flagship initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) aimed at nurturing creativity, innovation, hands-on learning, and entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty of engineering and technology institutions.
Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE) has been sanctioned an AICTE–IDEA Laboratory with a total outlay of ₹90 lakh. This includes ₹60 lakh as non-recurring grants for procuring advanced equipment, tools, and prototyping infrastructure, and ₹30 lakh as recurring grants to support training programmes, workshops, innovation challenges, industry interactions, and outreach activities over a period of two years.

The IDEA Lab at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE) will function as a multidisciplinary innovation space enabling students and faculty to translate ideas into functional prototypes and scalable solutions, thereby contributing to the national innovation and start-up ecosystem while addressing societal and industrial challenges.

The mission of the AICTE IDEA Lab at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE) is to:

Objectives

The key objectives of the AICTE IDEA Lab are to:

Promote experiential and outcome-based learning by engaging students and faculty in design thinking, hands-on experimentation, and prototype development.
Encourage innovation and creativity by enabling learners to convert ideas into viable products, systems, and solutions.
Support entrepreneurship and start-up incubation through structured mentoring, product development support, and exposure to innovation ecosystems.
Facilitate interdisciplinary learning, integrating mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science, and emerging technologies into real-world applications.
Enhance industry–academia interaction through collaborative projects, expert lectures, internships, innovation challenges, and mentorship by industry professionals.
Build a vibrant and sustainable innovation culture that promotes teamwork, leadership, networking, and knowledge sharing among students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners.
Provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, tools, and fabrication facilities for prototyping, testing, validation, and iterative improvement of innovative solutions.
