5.6 Details of student counselling and career guidance
➢ The Institute has employed a professionally qualified Counsellor for providing the student,
counselling and career guidance. In the Academic year 2016-2017, totally 41 group
counsellings have been conducted and in that 1804 students were benefited. Group
counselling was focused on Health Problems, behaviour with elders, behaviour with
opposite gender, ethics, drinking habits and cell phone usage etc.,
Also individual need based counselling for 150 students have been given for the lack of
interest in studies, interpersonal issues and health problems etc., As a part of counselling
the career guidance was also provided and students were motivated to opt for civil services
and other competitive examinations.

➢ On regular basis, counselling is given in the class rooms by the mentors and faculty
members. The student welfare committee and the student discipline committee was
appointed to provide need based counselling.

5.8 Details of gender sensitization programmes

Gender Sensitization Cell was established in the Institution. On 28 January 2017, the Cell has
organised a special lecture on Culture Studies, Art and Communication for the benefit of students
and faculty members. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Aiste Urboniene from Vilnius University,
Lithuania.
An initiative was taken in association with Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services,
Coimbatore to implant the seed of “Social Awareness” among the students and society through

short films and poster presentation contests on 31 March 2017.
