Prof. Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, the Vice-Chancellor of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE) is a versatile academician, having 15 years of teaching and 10 years of Industrial experience. He was the former Dean Research, SRM Group of Institutions Ramapuram and Trichy Campus.
He completed his Ph.D in Chemistry from University of Madras. He held various positions in Rajalakshmi Engineering College as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Secretary Research Advisory Board and Secretary Research & Consultancy Advisory Board.
He has received funding worth of more than a crore from various funding agencies like AERB, DRDO, AICTE and DST. He has completed 2 industry consultancy projects. He has published a good number of papers in highly reputed Journals and has presented papers in National and International Conferences. He is having Four National Patents. He has guided students and faculty to file more than 100 patents. He got Senior Research Fellow Award by CSIR. He has guided six candidates for their Ph.D. He was the Board of studies member in Anna University. He has visited Germany, France, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries for research collaboration
Prof. Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy was the Member in various Professional bodies such as The Electrochemical Society of India, Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs, India, Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, India, and the Society for Advancement of Electrochemical Science and Technology, Karaikudi.
He was the Head Research & Development in Sri Krishna Pharmachem Manufactures, Chennai. During my tenure as Head of R&D in Sri Krishna Pharmachem Manfacturing company he developed process for various Bulk Drugs (API’s- Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), Intermediates for Drug Discovery and chemicals for electronic Industry.
He has developed the process for many products
The products developed are exported to North American countries, Germany, Ukraine, Taiwan and Korea. He visited France & Germany to attend world Pharma Congress to promote export market. He has signed a commercial agreement for Itopride Hydrochloride with a Chennai based formulation company for 6 cores per annum in 2007
He is familiar in product development, commercialization and financial aspects of running a company.
